Irma L. Schermer, age 82, of Millcreek, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015. She was born in Erie on May 2, 1932, daughter of the late Calvin and Clara Johnson. Irma was employed in the cafeteria for Millcreek School District, retiring as the school cafeteria manager for McDowell High School in 1992. She had previously volunteered with the Millcreek Hospital Auxiliary, She enjoyed flower arranging, flower gardening, ceramics and holiday decorating. She especially loved spending time and enjoying the energy of children. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Schermer, who passed on March 9, 2015; one son, Michael Schermer; three sisters, Mildred Bortzer, Bernadine Zelnak, and Marian Dennison; three brothers, Vern, Robert, and Gilbert Johnson. She is survived by her children, Darlene Phillips (Jerry) of Edinboro, William Charles Schermer (Sharon E.) of Springboro, Katherine A. Crossley (Gary) of Edinboro, Audrey L. Moon (Dean) of Millcreek, Michelle Dzeskewicz (Steve) of Mill Village, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Private services are being provided by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Interment, Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie County Diabetes Association, 1128 State St., Erie, PA 16501.
