Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anthony (Tony) Pastore, age 86, of Erie, passed away on April 24, 2015 in Erie, with his family at his side. He was born on July 1, 1928, in Erie, the son of the late Carmen and Maria (Amendola) Pastore. Tony was a graduate of Erie Technical High School, and served in the United States Army in Korea. He worked in the Erie fish houses and as a pattern maker before co-founding Pastore Brothers Builders in 1954. From modest beginnings in the Little Italy neighborhood on East 4th Street, Anthony and his three brothers went on to operate one of Erie's most successful home building companies. He loved creating living spaces in his community and providing places for neighbors, friends and families to call home. He took great pride in the quality of his work and reveled in teaching his trade to any willing apprentice - many of whom he helped to launch their own businesses. Tony enjoyed tending his fruit trees and gardening, astronomy, working with his hands, classical music and birding, but most of all he enjoyed the company of his extended family. Modest, compassionate, spiritual, engaging, driven, and intellectual, being with Tony was a joy and an adventure. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Jane Pastore, his brother Carl Pastore, and his sisters Edith Taylor, Alvena Schauble, and Geraldine Carrick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Martha (Brenot) Pastore, his sons Daniel Pastore and wife Melissa of Erie, John Pastore of Los Angeles, California, and Edward Pastore and his wife Liz, of Charlottesville, Virginia, his daughters Elizabeth Ann Pastore and Ellen Marie Brockwell and her husband Steven, both of Erie, his brothers Paul Pastore and Donald Pastore, both of Erie, his sister Dorothy Michali, of New Hampshire, and six grandchildren whom he adored - Anthony, Carolyn and Carl Pastore, and Daniel, Nicoletta and Eric Brockwell. Friends and family are invited to call at the Dusckas - Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506, on Monday, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, Erie at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
