Obituary of Susan Fitzgerald

Susan Lynn Gossman Fitzgerald, age 66, of Millcreek Twp., passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness at St. Vincent Hospital on Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born on July 18, 1948 in Erie, the daughter of Mary E. Douglas Gossman of Erie and the late Melvin J. Gossman. Susan was a 1966 graduate of McDowell H.S. and a 1969 graduate of the St. Vincent School of Nursing where she obtained her RN Degree. She was employed as a RN at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie Osteopathic Hospital, the medical office of Dr. Amacher & Roos, and then retired from Westminster Family Medicine in 2008. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church. Susan was a very social and loving friend to many people and was a very devoted mom and grandmother. She served selflessly to others with her time and talents. She enjoyed making holidays and celebrations extra special for everyone. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Timothy E. Fitzgerald, where they met each other in 1964 (Junior year) in the halls of McDowell H.S. and after a five year courtship they married on December 27, 1969. Also surviving are two daughter; Amy Lynn Fitzgerald Mason (John) of Lake City and their children; Amanda, Danielle, Ryan and Erin Marie Mergner (Eric) of Little Rock Ark. and their children: Dylan, Anna, Brandon, Tyler, and Lyndsy, one brother, Dr. M. Douglas Gossman (Jan) of Louisville, KY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one infant sister, Patty Gossman. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday for a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
