Obituary of Jeffrey Eckhardt

Jeffrey "Jeff" R. Eckhardt, age 66, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born on October 10, 1948, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of the late Ervin and Fay E. Fahl Eckhardt. Jeff graduated from Sheboygan South H.S. in 1967 and after graduation he was accepted into the ROTC program at the University of Washington. Due to a medical condition, Jeff was unable to pursue his dream of becoming an Oceanographer. He received his BA degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, where he met his future wife, Patricia A. Marshall. They moved to CA where they were married in San Jose and resided there for seven years before moving to Erie where he worked in the field of Gerontology as a nursing supervisor for the rest of his career. Jeff impacted the lives of hundreds of co-workers, patients, and their families. Jeff was an avid chess player and was a member of the US Chess Federation where he was rated as a Master Player.
He enjoyed giving of himself to those around him and cherished his family and the time spent with them.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Marshall and his brother-in-law, John Marshall.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Patricia A. Marshall, three children: Naomi Eckhardt, Sarah Eckhardt, and Jeremy Eckhardt, all of Millcreek Twp., two grandchildren, Annalise and Jermaine Vaughn, two sisters, Wendy Bemis of FL, Pamela Dekker (Gary) of Sheboygan, WI, two brothers, Joel Eckhardt (Chana) of Milwaukee, WI, David Eckhardt (Dori) of Sheboygan, WI, his mother-in-law, Lorraine Marshall, brother-in-law, James Marshall, sister-in-law, Peggy Donner, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
