Obituary of Irene Elles

Irene J. Pietron Elles, age 92, of Erie, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015. She was born in Erie on June 14, 1923, daughter of the late John and Josephine Aleksiewicz Pietron. Irene was a 60 year member and active volunteer for many years at St. James R.C. Church. She first worked at General Electric Co., where she met her husband, and then Millbrook Bread Store prior to retirement. Irene was a former Den Mother with the Boy Scouts at St. James. She was active with the Democratic Party, working at the election poll. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery and sewing. She was extremely close to and enjoyed having an active role in her grandchildren's lives. Irene was a past member of the Rose Garden Club of Erie and loved tending to her rose bushes. Her favorite pastime was playing Pinocle with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed being serenaded by her husband with his country guitar music. Irene is lovingly survived by her husband of 67 years, George A. Elles; two children, George J. Elles (Patti) and Darlene Grandinetti (Anthony), six grandchildren, Maria Elles Scott, Dane Elles (Maggie), Cameron Elles, Acadia Elles, Amanda Ward, and Sarah Cupps (David); two step grandchildren, Abby and Nicholas Grandinetti, three great grandchildren, Gavin and Mina Elles, and Hendrix Ward, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd on Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of the Funeral Service there at 6:30 PM conducted by Rev. James McCormick.
