Obituary of Albert C. Verno

Albert “Al” C. Verno, age 90, of Millcreek Twp., died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1925 the son of the late John and Mary Trolli Verno. Al served in the US Navy on the SS Missouri during WWII as a gunner’s mate and he also served in the US Coast Guard Reserve for over 30 years. He was employed as an assessor with the Erie County Assessment Office until his retirement. He also owned several restaurants and income properties in the Erie area. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and enjoyed cooking. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma Joyce Brockway Verno, two brothers; James J. and Arthur J. Verno. Al is survived by two daughters; Gail Foster-Pegg of Millcreek Twp., Debra A. Verno (Len Juniewicz) of Millcreek, two sons; Gary A. Verno (Pam) of Richmond, VA, Gary F. Verno (Patti) of Fairview, three sisters: Carol Bianchi, Marion Verno, Delores Verno, ten grandchildren and a great- granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for prayers at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace R. C. Church 2401 West 38th Street at 10:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
