Obituary of Mary E. Abata

Mary E. “Maebeth” Corbran Abata, age 62, of Edinboro, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Edinboro Manor. She was born in Erie on October 20, 1952, daughter of the late Kenneth B. and Mary A. Konopka Corbran. Maebeth was a 1970 graduate of Villa Maria Academy and then a graduate of Erie Business Center. She was employed at GTE and then Verizon, retiring in 2003 as a Design Engineer. Maebeth was a member of Our Lady of Peace Relay for Life Team; enjoyed reading and working on the computer. Maebeth is survived by her husband of 27 years, Joseph Abata; her step-daughter, Marilyn Konopka (Mark); a sister, Kathleen Guerin (Jim); a brother, Paul Corbran (Susan); two step-grandchildren, Holly Murphy and Kelly Konopka, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Corbran and a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and John Spencer. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace R.C.
