Hansel “Red” C. Martin, Jr., age 83, of Erie, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Manchester Commons after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Red was born in Batesville, AR, on November 1, 1931, son of the late Hansel Cook Martin and Juna Morris Martin. Red honorably served in the Air Force during the Korean War and became a Pharmacist upon returning to civilian life. Red and his wife of 60 years, Loretta Stamper Martin, lived most of their lives in San Antonio, TX. Red was a long time Pharmacist at Patt’s Drug Store and enjoyed antiques, pharmaceutical museum pieces, gardening, war and history, and watching M*A*S*H. In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Martin, and his daughter Ramona Martin Jennings. In addition to his wife, surviving are his step sister, Jackie Tutt; his daughter, Juna Beth Erman; his son-in-law, Andrew Erman; his granddaughter, Kyla Sage Erman; his grandson, Garret Martin Erman; and many cousins. The family would like to thank the staff of Manchester Commons Woodside Neighborhood for their loving care and support. A memorial service is being scheduled for 9AM on Friday, September 11th, at Manchester Commons, 6351 West Lake Rd, Fairview, PA 16505. A graveside service will be held later in Batesville, AR. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater, PA, 1128 State Street, Erie, PA 16501.
