Obituary of Berniece H. Clapper

Berniece H. Fugate Clapper, age 83, of McKean, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Erie on November 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Opal Carner Fugate. She graduated from Millcreek High School and Hamot School of Nursing. Berniece was employed by Hamot for ten years as an OBGYN nurse and then she received her degree from Edinboro University and became a school nurse for the General McLane School District; retiring after twenty-three years of service. She was a McKean Lioness and a founding member of the McKean Recreation Authority. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Clapper, one brother, Kenneth Fugate, and two sisters; Barbara Anderson and Beverly McKinley. She is survived by one daughter Carol J. Blount of McKean, one son Scott Clapper (Gail) of Girard, three grandchildren: Amanda Elliott, Kyle Blount, and Brent Clapper, two great-grandchildren; Carolyn and David Elliott, one brother Dwain Fugate (Cheryl) of Wattsburg, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Service. Interment Dunn Valley Cemetery.
