Obituary of Betty J. Zonna-Serrins

BJ Zonna-Serrins, a good and faithful servant, had God’s grace shine upon her on Friday, January 8, 2016 after a short illness. She was a beautiful wife to Paul J. Serrins, a wonderful, loving mother to children (Craig, R.J & Kymberly), a doting grand-mother (Xavier, Quentin, Bella & Gigi), a giving sibling (Ron, Jim & Cindy) and friend. BJ went to grade school at St. Hedwig and was proud to be a member of the first graduating class at St. Luke. She also attended Mercyhurst Preparatory School where she served as class president. Her business accomplishments include owning Boutique by B.J., serving as business administrator at Serrins Automotive and being the proprietor of Rosie’s News. She gave back to the community her entire life, most notably as a volunteer for the Greater Erie Charity Golf Classic. But, most of all, BJ loved life and shared it generously with her family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining, music (Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, The Four Freshman), and travelling to North Palm Beach and Hobe Sound, FL. She loved being outdoors and caring for her flowers & plants, was an avid golfer, tennis player and swimmer. And, enjoyed conversing over a nice glass of wine. She was preceded to eternal life by parents Stanley and Betty Schwartz, along with grand-dog Jack. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate her beautiful life with a memorial mass on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church, 2004 E. Lake Rd. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Mercyhurst Preparatory School, 538 E. Grandview Blvd, Erie, PA 16504, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of one’s choice.
