Jan Chorazy
Jan Chorazy, age 93, of Erie, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Abington Crest Nursing Center. He was born in Poland on July 23, 1917 to the late Jozef and Maria Chorazy.
At age twenty he entered Military Academy in Poland. He proudly fought against the German invasion of Poland from the first day of World War II until the end of the war. After the war, he worked in paramilitary service in Poland and was awarded with medals by the government. In the 1980s, he immigrated to Pittsburgh, PA where he became a US citizen. His hobbies in his younger years included biking, sports shooting, and teaching students self defense. History was his passion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanislaw Chorazy, four sisters: Anna Chorazy, Kasia Szalwa, Agnes Wolinski, and Zosia Wawrzonek. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Maria Hyrckowian Lubas Chorazy, son, Kazimierz Lubas, his wife, Ela, and daughter , Gosia, son, Zdzislaw Chorazy, his wife, Katherine, and daughters, Christina and Jacqueline, his daughter Halina Wilczanski, her husband, Peter, and sons James, Robert, and Michael.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. today from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited
to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at a time and place to be announced by the funeral home. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
