Obituary of Edwin Emil Kolatorowicz

Edwin Emil Kolatorowicz, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2016 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his nieces and nephews. Edwin was born in Toledo, Ohio and later moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. He was the only son of the late Apolonia and Steven Kolatorowicz. Edwin attended Purdue University after high school and then went on to the School of Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his Master’s Degree. Upon graduation from MIT, he was an officer in the United States Navy. After serving his country during the Korean War, he returned to Erie and worked as an Electrical Engineer at General Electric until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Madeline (Johnson) Kolatorowicz. He is further survived by brothers-in-law Albert Johnson of Bel Air, Maryland and William Johnson of Erie as well as many nieces and nephews. Edwin enjoyed spending holidays and special occasions with family. He also enjoyed doing yard work, the symphony, the speaker series, and attending plays at the Erie Playhouse. He loved the water, loved to go sailing, and loved watching the sunsets over Lake Erie. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses and attendants at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and at Select Specialty Hospital for the care and kindness they bestowed in taking care of Edwin. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, where private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
