Obituary of Janet Theresa Johnson

Janet Theresa (Gianuzzi) Johnson, age 80, died in her sleep the morning of March 16, 2016 at her home in Fairview after a long struggle with the effects of a stroke. She was born in Erie on September 21, 1935 and married Bud Johnson on December 29, 1962. She owned and operated her own drapery business, held various jobs from working in the school cafeteria to volunteering with the fire department but spent most of her time caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her many friends and extended family. She was very fond of her wonderful caregivers over the last 15 years. Janet was exceptionally loving and strong. She survived many physical difficulties but did not let this stop her from enjoying life and doing the things she loved from ballroom dancing and traveling to playing cards. She had a sense of humor and connection even at the end of her life. She is survived by her husband Harold (Bud) Johnson of 53 years; a daughter, Natasha Nunes and husband Danny Philemon of Wilmington, NC; a son Karl Johnson and wife Tracy Johnson of Austin, TX and two grandchildren, Alexis Nunes and Taylor Nunes of Wilmington, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents Isabelle and John Gianuzzi and her sisters Marie Gianuzzi and Joyce McNaughton. A private remembrance will be held by the family. The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. has been entrusted with arrangements.
