Obituary of Mary M. Baker

Mary M. Beach Baker, age 85, of McKean Twp., passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Manor after an extended illness. She was born in Erie on August 11, 1930, the daughter of the late Forrest “Pete” and Catherine Luhman Beach. Mary graduated from Villa Maria H.S. and continued her education at St. Vincent School of Nursing. She worked as a RN at St. Vincent while raising her children. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church and loved working in her flower gardens, feeding the birds, taking bus trips, walking, reading, music, watching movies, and going shopping. She loved her pet dogs and cats, and helping others when she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy A. Baker, one brother, Matt Beach, and one sister, Kathy Kohler and one sister-in-law, Audrey Beach.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack E. Baker, two children; Doug Baker (Karen “Dorothy” Steavens) of Erie, Ann Marie Pochedly (Jim) of McKean Twp., one sister-in-law Jeannette Keim (Carl) of Albuquerque, NM, one brother-in-law Larry Kohler of Phoenix, AZ, six grandchildren: Carrie and Erik Baker, Heather Jones, Robert and Heidi Steavens, Isaak Schlindwein, great- grandchildren: Justin, Jeremy, Jayden Baker, DeMarco and Jorge Santos, Ayva Reeves, Eric and Kyra Jones, Jamie and James Steavens, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. for prayers conducted by the Rev. Franklin Klein followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, 8880 West Main Street, McKean, PA at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Francis Cemetery.
Mary’s family would like to thank Pleasant Ridge Manor’s staff and nurses for their wonderful and compassionate care which was given to Mary.
