Obituary of John Hauser

John “Johnny” or “Doogie” Hauser, age 43, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 11, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Erie on September 23, 1972, the son of John Henry Hauser and the late Judith (Abbott) Hauser. John graduated from McDowell High School in 1991, and went on to serve in the Army, in rank PV1. John was currently employed with General Electric in building 26, where he worked for 12 years. Subsequent employment included work at Johnston Controls, Carlisle Plastics and Red Dog Plastic Industry.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 18 years, Rhonda (Coverdale) Hauser and his loving child, Breanna R. Hauser, both of Erie, Pa; his father, John H. Hauser, of Erie; two sisters, Jacqueline R. Davisson (Donna), of Mckean, Jennifer H. Kohut (Aubrey), of Lake Wylie, S.C.; one brother, Joseph H. Hauser (Kassi), of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother in law, Nancy J. Coverdale, of Erie; a sister in law, Nanciejane Coverdale, of S.C.; his grandmother, Julia Hauser, of Erie; and three nephews, Christopher Hauser, of Erie; Joseph Hauser, of Charlotte, N.C.; and Jude Kohut, of Lake Wylie, S.C.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Judith L. Hauser; his father in law, Edward G. Coverdale; his maternal grandparents, Willard and Millicent Abbott; and his paternal grandfather, Henry R. Hauser.
John was an active member of the VFW Post 470. In addition, John was also an active member of the Knights of Saint John, where he previously participated on their board and which served as his “home away from home.” John also was highly active in his Union, UE506.
John enjoyed providing for his family through his hard work. He had a huge heart and was motivated to help those in need. He enjoyed camping, hunting, playing cards, gambling at the casino and playing tips, and s’mores in the backyard. He loved unwinding amongst friends with some beers. He loved spending quality time with his family, especially, Rhonda and Breanna and his dog Snickers.
Friends are invited to call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd, on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to a Funeral Service on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Breanna Hauser College Fund, which has been setup at G.E. Credit Union located at 1029 Pittsburgh Ave.
