Obituary of Joseph C. Klutz, Sr.

Joseph C. Klutz, Sr., age 94, of Erie, passed away, Monday, April 25, 2016. He was born in Erie on November 29, 1921, the son of the late Joseph and Violet Ligocki Klutz Bartosik. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Rosemary A. Gehrlein Klutz, one son, Joseph C. Klutz, Jr., one granddaughter Tammy Held, three sisters; Dorothy Karpinski, Helen Jankowski, Martha Zoldach, four brothers: Steven and Edward Klutz and Stanley and Donald Bartosik. He retired from GE in 1982 after 41 years of service. He worked for the Quality Control Dept. as the Test Leader. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the GE Retirees Employees Association. and attended GE night school and Gannon. He was a former Cub Master of Pack #23. Joe enjoyed sports and played baseball for the Golden Cheveron Club, GEAA, and the Huzars slow pitch league. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening. He is survived by one daughter Jeannette Batten, one daughter-in-law Camille Winkler Klutz, two granddaughters Heidi Miller, Dana Ceelsdorf, two grandsons; Brian Klutz (Jacki) and Eric Klutz (Lisa), nine great- grandchildren, three great great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a sincere thanks to the staff of Manchester Commons, Blue Heron Unit, especially: Mary, Aaron, Anthony, Kaitlyn, Nermina and Dean for their care and concern given to Joe. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 3 p.m. until 7 pm. and are invited there on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12:15 p.m. for prayers followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one’s choice
