Eleanor C. VonHauser Forbes, age 97, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Manchester Commons. She was born on May 3, 1918 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Raysor VonHauser. Eleanor was a graduate of Steelton H.S. Eleanor came to Erie in 1947 when she married Lauchlan Forbes who died on March 20, 2004. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Bell Telephone Co. and the Hershey Creamery in Harrisburg. She was an LPN and worked at Rondale Nursing Home in Erie. Eleanor was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister Betty Schell. She is survived by one daughter Linda J. Kowalick (Joseph) of New Cumberland, PA. Friends are invited to a graveside service at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 4523 Love Road on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. All arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 5440 Washington Ave. Erie, PA 16509.
