Obituary of Joseph J. Gavio

Joseph J. Gavio, age 74, of Summit Twp., passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center after a seven month battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on March 19, 1942, the son of the late Anthony and Celia Mancuso Gavio. He retired from GE as a machinist in Bldg. #13 after more than 30 years of service. He was a past member of the Corvette Club and enjoyed all types of cars, biking, working outdoors, and was a railroad buff. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Tony and Richard Gavio and one grandson Alexander Gavio. He is survived by three sons; John (Kimberly) Gavio, Erie; Joseph (Elaine) Gavio, Fairview, and James (Miriam) Gavio, Erie, six grandchildren: Nicholas, Justin, Zachary, Adam, Owen, and Jarod, two nieces Polly and Gina and his former wife Eleanor Gavio. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. and are invited there on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. for the Funeral Service conducted by the Rev.
