Mary Catherine Steinbacher DeLuca, age 88, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at Edinboro Manor after an extended illness. She was born on August 5, 1927 in Erie, the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Dorothy M. Peyton Steinbacher. She worked at the Boston Store in unit control, Carlisle Department Store, and K-Mart East until her retirement.
She married Leonard DeLuca on January 12, 1946. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2009 and her sister Margaret Ann Thompson.
Mary is survived by her son David DeLuca of Erie, her daughter Donna DeLuca Mungle of Girard, three grandsons: Mark A. DeLuca, Sr. of Mt. Jewett, PA, Jason R. Mungle (Lori L.) of Mill Village, Christopher D. Mungle of Girard, four great-grandchildren: Mark A. DeLuca, Jr. (Jennifer), Michael A. DeLuca, Meagan A. DuLuca, and Matthew A.L. DeLuca, one great-great-granddaughter Madison A. DeLuca, two brothers: Donald (Shirley) and Raymond (Violet) Steinbacher both of Erie, and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. for prayers followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus, 516 East 13th Street, Erie, PA 16503 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
