Obituary of Remle Janet Smith

Remle Janet Smith, age 78 of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Thursday, June 2,2016 after an extended illness. She was born in Erie on March 13, 1938 the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Freda Ziegler Smith. She was employed by the Office of the PA Inspector General. She was a member of the Community United Church and enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her sisters. She was preceded in death by one grandson Aaron John Nolan, three sisters: Ellen Schultz, Mildred Bretl, and Margaret Martin. She is survived by two daughters; Jan Crowe (Tim) of Knightdale, NC, Julie Lebaillif of Wichita, KS, one son James Chartley (Donna) of Erie, eight grandchildren: Jillian, Remle, Timmy, Jon, James, Courtney, Danny, and Nicky, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews (two special nephews; Ronnie Celeski and Donny Rhodes), her siblings: Ruth Schmidt, Lorre Rapp, John Smith (Loretta), Julie Celeski (Ron), Erma Rhodes (Don), Elmer Smith (Pat), Kathy Koziol (Jerry), and one brother-in-law Darrell Bretl. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for the Funeral Service conducted by the Rev. Rich McCarty. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Soup Kitchen, 643 West 17th Street, Erie, PA 16502.
