Obituary of Meredith Burke

Meredith Burke, age 84, of Corona, CA, formerly of Erie, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, two days after celebrating her 84th birthday with her family. She was born on June 13, 1932, in Erie, to the late Hazel Range. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Shelious Range, her husband, Edwin Burke, Sr., as well as her brothers; Bert Cornman, Harry Cornman, John Range, and her son, Edwin Burke, Jr. Following the death of her husband in 1987, Meredith, along with her daughter, Gayle and their dog Jinx, made a cross-country drive to settle in Corona. She resided in Corona Community Villas Senior Apartments, where she was involved in many activities and made several friends. She was proud that she resided in her own apartment until her recent illness. She enjoyed taking painting lessons, being involved in movie night, helping with pot-lucks, and the occasional outing to a local casino. Meredith is survived by her sister, Ruth Smith, her children; Lynn Magar (Michael) of Lake Elsinor, CA, Ronald Burke of West Covina, CA, Gayle Rumbaugh of Palmdale, FL, Becky Duddy-Burke (Marianne) of Boston, MA, and Timothy of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her step-children, David Burke (Dianne) of Norwalk, CA and Marge Keihlmier (Donald) of Erie, PA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Anthony, Tracy, Sean, Crystal, Jason, Emily, and Finny, several great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A private grave-side service will be held at the convenience of the family. All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
