Obituary of Martin E. Ball

Martin “Marty” E. Ball, age 77, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on June 23, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on November 6, 1938, the son of the late Harry C. and Katherine Kneissler Ball. He attended Lawrence Park H.S. and then served in the US Army for eight years in Hawaii and Korea. He had been employed at GE, Erie Cut Flowers and sold auto supplies and new and used automobiles at Gary Miller Chrysler and was designated a “Super” salesman. He was a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club, a member of the Zukor Club, and the American Legion. In his early years, he was a volunteer firemen and a member of the Wesleyville and North East American Legion Color Guard and Drill Team Units. Marty was an avid reader; especially books on war and history, loved golf, and was a devoted John Wayne movie buff and other Westerns. He was a life-long Raiders fan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Harry and Gerald Ball, one sister Jacqueline Johnston, and a brother-in-law Fred Luther. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Barbara Luther Ball, one daughter Tracy Lynn Ball, granddaughters Lindsay Ann, Victoria Lynn, great-grandchildren Lilly Ann, Luke Allan, four sisters: Tharon Hample, Katherine Harris, Denise Robertson, Linda Novakowski, two brothers Donald and Bernard Ball, sister-in-law Mary Luther, a dear friend Nancy Brown, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 3 p.m. until time of service there at 7:00 p.m. followed by a military service. Private interment. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Regional Home Health and Hospice for their great care and concern for Marty during his illness the past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regional Home Health Care and Hospice, 2564 Village Common Drive, Erie, PA 16506.
