Obituary of Lucy A. Tarkowski

Lucy A. Loiacano Tarkowski, age 94, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully at Manchester Commons on Monday, June 27, 2016. She was born in North East, PA on January 20, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and Laura Guarino Loiacano. Lucy enjoyed reading, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and playing scrabble. She was known for her beautiful knitting and crocheting; especially her baby sweater sets and extra warm mittens. She was preceded in death by her husband George R. Tarkowski in 2010, one son David “Tark” Tarkowski in 2008, four sisters: Clara Fox, R. Alice Damon, Elizabeth Wunz, Celia Russo, four brothers: Frank Loiacono, Jr., Joseph Liocano, Raymond Loiacono, and Jack Licone. Lucy was the last surviving sibling. She is survived by one daughter Georgia Tarkowski of Erie, her God Daughter Shirley Cala of Angola, NY, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Tarkowski Slurkanich, Gertrude Tarkowski, one daughter-in-law Lee Mix, grandchildren: Jennilee Mix, Andrew and Thomas Blackburn several nieces and nephews and a dear friend of 64 years Jackie Braine. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until time of the committal service at 6:00 p.m. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. A special thanks to the great staff at Manchester Commons for the wonderful care that Lucy received during her stay.
