Obituary of Josephine Coniglio Rossetti
Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine “Josie” Coniglio Rossetti, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016 at the LECOM Senior Living Center in Erie. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Falco Rossetti, by her parents Anna and Guerino Coniglio, and by her siblings Pasquale Coniglio, Samual Costanzo, Andrew Costanzo, and Mary Costanzo Pugliano.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Florence Rossetti Rothwell and by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: grandson, Dr. Garrett P. Clark, D.O., his wife, Marie DiSanto Clark and children, Lainey, Connor, Caden, and Christian; granddaughter, Lucia M. Scutella and sons, Elijah and Santino; and grandson, Ian R. Rothwell. She is also survived by her youngest sister Margaret Coniglio Ambrogio and by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Josie was not only a loving wife, mom, and “grammy,” but over the course of her long and fruitful life had worked productively in a number of roles: During World War 2, she had been a supervisor with Westinghouse; after the war, she worked in the plastics and food industries; and, before retiring, she had been a Nurse’s Aide, a post of which she was most proud, as she was an extremely caring individual who enjoyed helping others.
Josie was also a talented craftswoman who had mastered many home arts. Known affectionately by her closest family members as “the hostess with the most-est,” Josie was a virtuoso at cooking, canning, baking, knitting, crocheting, and crewel work. She was as kind-hearted as she was clever, and her loved ones will always cherish her equally well for her sense of compassion as for her excellent home-made pasta. With tender fondness, she’ll be remembered as much for her raucous sense of humor as for her superb strawberry jam. And, those who knew her well will always be inspired as much by her indomitable spirit in the sense of hardship as by the lovely intricacies of her hand-made lace and embroidered linens.
She was a supremely resilient woman—one who lived through much, asked for little, and was loved by all.
