Daniel Stewart Pancoast, Jr., age 94, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Daniel was born on November 19, 1921 in Philipsburg, PA, the son of the late Daniel S. and Rotha Blakeley Pancoast, Sr.
He served in the US Army/Air Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He attended Behrend College, worked at GE, and later as a bricklayer at Erie Forge/National Forge.
He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion Post 773, and was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. His family meant the world to him and he also enjoyed sports, seeing the wildlife on the Peninsula, reading; especially books on the history of the Civil War, WWI, and WWII.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter Geraldine Steward, one sister Dorothy Kyler, and three brothers: Leonard, Richard, and Edward Pancoast.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Emmagene Irons Pancoast, five children: Fred Pancoast (Ruth) of Danville, IL, Arthur D. Pancoast, Sr. (Magie) of Erie, Donald L. Pancoast (Emily) of Erie, Katherine Pancoast of Erie, and Michael J. Pancoast, Sr. (Jeannette) of South Bend, IN, twelve grandchildren: Arthur D. Pancoast, Jr. (Marcie), Lisa Pancoast, Jennifer Brown (Robert), Richard Pancoast (Jennifer), Jessica McAnulty, Shelby Jennings (John), Daniel S. Pancoast III, Michael Pancoast II, Elisha Pancoast, Arthur Jem Angelo Pancoast, Arjem Mae Pancoast, Joshua Lee Pancoast, two sisters; Anna Brelo, Barbara Buck, one sister-in-law Jean Pancoast, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service there at 1:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Robert Lewis. Military service will immediately follow. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
