Obituary of Arthur E. Preston

Arthur “Art” E. Preston, age 73, of McKean Twp., passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Ft. Shenandoah, VA, while vacationing with his wife. He was born in Erie on June 6, 1943, the son of the late Joseph H. and Cecilia Tatara Prezwicki. Art was a graduate of Tech Memorial H.S. earning a degree in Tool and Die. He served in the US Marine Reserves during the Vietnam Era. He was employed at Modern Industries and AMSCO, first as a machinist and then as a maintenance worker until his retirement after 42 years. Art was a very active member with the Gem City Outdoorsman Club, a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, and AMSCO Union Retiree Organization. He enjoyed hobby farming; especially gardening. He trained beagles for small pack competition. He enjoyed hunting big game in other states as well as fishing and ice fishing. He also enjoyed NSSA skirmishing. Lifelong hobbies included welding and woodworking in which he made rocking horses, banks, doll houses, and other wooden toys for his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara A. Malinowski Preston, two sons; Ron Preston and his wife Toni of McKean Twp., Daniel Preston and his wife Janice of Edinboro, and his pride and joy; his four grandchildren: Joseph, Genevieve, Caitlin, and Daniel Preston, one sister Elaine Preston and her husband Ken of Pittsburgh, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother Leroy Preston. Friends may call at St Francis Xavier R. C. Church, 8880 W. Main Street, McKean, PA 16426 on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Private interment. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of NW PA, 2407 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, PA 16506 or to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
