Allen Richard Shoemaker, age 68 of Erie, passed away on Sunday December 25, 2016 at his home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Brackenridge, PA on April 7, 1948 a son of the late, Harry and Louise Helgert Shoemaker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Harry V. Shoemaker and one niece Erica.
Allen graduated from Har-Brack High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army as a supply clerk. He was previously employed with the Baltimore VA Hospital and retired from the Erie VA Medical Center, where he was a nursing assistant. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Siembida Shoemaker; one son, Tim Hensley of Virginia; one grandson Sean Hensley of Washington; four brothers, Kent (Josie) Shoemaker, Clark (Robin) Shoemaker, Jay (Rose) Shoemaker and Barry (Janet) Shoemaker; two sisters, Janet Beresik and Karen (Randy) Malinowski and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506, on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and are invited to a funeral service there on Friday Morning at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow with full military honors in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
