Obituary of Ruth W. Henry

Ruth W. Volski Henry Ruth W. Volski Henry, age 93, of Millcreek Twp., passed away at her residence at Westlake Woods on Thursday, December 29, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie, the daughter of the late Vincent V. and Lena (May) Volski on March 16, 1923. She met her husband, John R. “Bob” Henry in 1945 and was married on September 18, 1948. She and her husband raised three children; Joyce A. (Henry) Christiansen of Painesville, OH, Linda M.(Henry) Nearhoof (Terry) of Millcreek Twp., and James K. Henry, who preceded her in death in August, 2010. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren: Megan (Nearhoof) Dean, husband, Christopher, of Conneaut Lake, PA, Andrew J. Christiansen of Willowick, OH, Beth A. Christiansen of Painesville, OH, and James R. Nearhoof and wife Charlene, of Erie. During the last five years of her life she particularly enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson, Trenton J. Dean. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years and was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She spent her life taking care of her children and grandchildren; welcoming everyone into her home to enjoy her fabulous cooking and baking. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, canning, as well as knitting. She and her husband Bob were married for 64 and a half years until his death in March 2013. They met at a dance and danced their entire married life together. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Private interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Westlake Woods Unique Living Facility and Southern Hospice of Erie County for their loving care of Ruth. Ruth loved her home at Westlake Woods and was very appreciative of the compassionate care provided by the administration and staff.
