Obituary of Phyllis Ann Fourspring

Phyllis Ann Baerle Fourspring Phyllis Ann Baerle Fourspring, 94, of Erie Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 28, 2017 at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge. She was the beloved only child of Albert J. Baerle and Ida M. Schweinhardt. Phyllis was born in Erie on June 9, 1922. She graduated from Academy High School in 1940 and studied at Pitt Center in Erie. She fell madly in love with Neal Fourspring at age 16 when he walked her home from Academy High School. They were married on August 3, 1946 and had 78 years of true love together. She loved being a mother and a home maker as well as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the water and she and Neal spent many years boating and socializing with friends at the Erie Yacht Club. She especially loved the Lake Erie sunsets. Phyllis was an active member of the Erie Power Squadron Women’s Auxiliary and a volunteer at Chosen Mission Project. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Charter Oaks Garden Club. She loved collecting beach glass and many other artistic activities. Her smile lit up every room and her laughter was infectious. Phyllis was truly a happy person and often commented to her family: “When I die, don’t mourn me. Have a party because I’ve had a very happy life!” Phyllis is survived by her husband Neal, her son Donald Fourspring, daughter-in-law Kathleen Fourspring, her daughter Neala Eastman and her son-in-law Jeffrey Eastman. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Andrew (Hazel) Fourspring, Keith (Kristen) Fourspring, Christian Ferralli and Ian Ferralli. She has 8 great-grandchildren: Fabian, Farah, Hannah, Finley, Tessa, Feabie, Fenton and Beau. Phyllis was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. A memorial gathering for all friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 11th from 2pm to 4pm at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA. A prayer service be conducted by Rev. Robert Lewis at 3:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Chosen Mission Project.
