June Louise (Wygant) Alexander
June Louise (Wygant) Alexander, age 92, of Erie, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. She was born in Oil City, PA on June 12, 1920, the daughter of Clyde Edgar and Florence Acklin Wygant.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1938 and Meadville Business School in 1941. She was a member for sixty-four years at First United Methodist Church. She worked as a receptionist and social event coordinator (helped hundreds of people with instructions on how to spell) at the Martin Luther King Center for thirty-four years; retiring in 2009 at age 89. She was also employed at Lord Corp. for two years. She was involved in PTA, Brownies, B & C classes, Audubon Society, and the Travel Club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, cross stitch, driving, bird watching, and traveling. She was a serious chocolate lover and always watched The Guiding Light and Search for Tomorrow soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Alexander, whom she married on September 19, 1942 and passed away on June 26, 1986, her brother, Alan Wygant, on December 7, 2011, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her four children: Judith Dundon, Scott Alexander, Marcia Katos, Lori Sue Bouchard, one sister, Barbara Sullivan, one brother, Delbert Wygant, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held on April 30 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. conducted by Rev. J. R. Wagner. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 707 Sassafras Street, Erie, PA 16501 or the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501-1006.
