Kathleen C. "Kay" (Kelly) Borden
Kathleen C. "Kay" Borden, 93, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She was born on August 7, 1923, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late William "Bill" and Ethyl (Wilson) Kelly.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel "Dan" Borden, after 55 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Kelly and her twin sister Hilda Graham.
Kay was an executive secretary in Montreal, and met Dan while on vacation in Miami, and moved to Erie in 1956 to marry him. For many years they owned and operated Borden's PX, a corner store across from the Armory on 6th and Parade. Kay also had a nice, long career at Erie Insurance, retiring in her seventies.
She loved keeping up with friends and family. She will be remembered for her smile, her great sense of humor, her laugh, her positivity, and her very strong faith in God and the power of prayer.
She is survived by her three sons, Daniel Borden of Atlanta, GA, Paul Borden (Tina) of Naples, FL, and Scott Borden of Polk, PA, and three grandchildren Kathleen Borden, Ben Borden, and Paul Borden.
Kay's family wants to thank the many caregivers, friends, and neighbors who enriched her life, especially in her later years.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Saturday, July 29th, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
