Dorothy R. Agens Smith

Dorothy R. Agens Smith, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her Springhill Senior Living residence.  She was born in Erie on February 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Floyd and Hyacinth Buttons Agens. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Academy H.S. and was employed as a teacher’s aide.  She volunteered many hours during the WQLN auction.  She attended church at Springhill and enjoyed bingo, and playing cards.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Arden O’Dell Smith in 2013, one grandson Joe D. Wilkens, two sisters; Riva and Beryl, and one brother Leslie.

She is survived by five children: Robert Smith (Cora) of Mooers, NY, Dennis Smith (Sangwal) of Erie, Douglas Smith (Stephanie) of Fredericksburg, VA, Karen Wilkins (Joseph) of McKean, Peggy Hoover (Monte) of McKean, , fourteen grandchildren: Alan and Deanne of Mooers, NY, Kari of Eighty-Four, PA, Kristi of Spring, TX, Katie of Monessen, PA, Susan of Pittsburgh, PA, Heidi of Noblesville, IN, Emily and Matthew of McKean, Joshua of CO, Ian and Brianna of Fredericksburg, VA, Saviga Hemathulin of Montpelier, OH, Hemchinayut Hemathulin of Crestview, FL, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. for the Funeral Service.  Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springhill Senior Living, 2301 Edinboro Rd., Erie, PA 16509.
