Obituary of James J. Wingenbach

James J. Wingenbach, age 91, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in St. Marys, PA on April 12, 1926, a son of the late Leo and Anne Pfeufer Wingenbach.
He proudly served his country during WW II, in the Army/Air Corp. Jim retired from Unsco Linen Service where he was a manager. He had previously worked at American Sterilizer, Fisher Scientific and as a Bacteriologist in Washington D.C. He was a longtime member of Millcreek American Legion Post # 773.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, one son, William Wingenbach and two grandchildren, Megan Bailey and Michael Butchkosky.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine Kessler Wingenbach; their children, Robert (Vivian) Wingenbach and Cynthia (Mike) Butchkosky all of Erie; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with one on the way. Jim is further survived by his siblings, Elaine Korn of Johnstown, PA and Richard W. (Joyce) Wingenbach of Erie; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a good friend John Fucci. He will also be sadly missed by his dog Billy.
At the request of the family, no calling hours will be observed and a private graveside service will be held in Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
