Paul Meaden

Paul Meaden, formerly of Erie, passed away at his home in Murrysville, PA, on Sunday, October 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on April 17, 1925 in Ambridge, PA; being the youngest child of John and Mary Medianowsky.

Following high school graduation, Paul served in the US Air Force during WWII., achieving the rank of Sergeant.  After he was honorably discharged, Paul attended Fenn College, now known as Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH; where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.  His early career was spent working for Willard Battery and later Gardner-Denver throughout the SE US.

He returned to Cleveland for a time where he met the love of his life, June Kulyk, to whom he married at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Pageville on September 26, 1959.  Early in their marriage they lived in Broadview Heights, OH before settling permanently in Erie in 1966.  Paul retired from Rogers Brothers Corp. in Albion in 1987.

After retirement, Paul and June were active volunteers at the Emmaus Soup Kitchen and with their church, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Erie.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife June, who passed away in 2012 and his brother William Meaden (Mary) of North Royalton, OH.

Paul is survived by his daughter Laura Meaden Frey (Jim), his daughter Barbara Meaden, grandsons; Matthew and Alex Frey all of Murrysville and many nieces and nephews; including Bill Meaden (Kris) of Canton, OH and Mark Meaden (Nancy) of Hinckley, OH.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until time of Panachida Memorial Service at 6:30 P.M. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 1123 East Ave., Erie, PA 16503 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Father Nicholas Mihaly. Interment with military honors at St. Nicholas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
