Obituary of Marie Cecelia Mangold

Marie Cecelia Heinrich Mangold, age 93, of Erie, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017. She was born in Erie on March 9, 1924, daughter of the late John and Anna Ehret Heinrich.

Marie was the seventh in a family of eight children born and raised in Erie, PA.  She was a loving and supportive wife to Walter R. for 58 years. She was also a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie graduated from East High School in 1942 and then went to work at the Palace Hardware. She married on April 29, 1950 and raised a family of seven children. Marie was a member of St. Stanislaus R.C. Church. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing games with her family, taking rides and Rita’s custard.

Marie’s family would like to thank the many caregivers at her Home Instead residence. Stacy, Allie, Debbie, Jeannie and Yvonne showed much compassion and took exceptional care of her before and during her brief illness.

Marie is survived by her children, Kathy McCall, Susan Perfetto (Thomas), Gregory Mangold (Donna), Lori Rewers, Carol Mangold, Michael Mangold (Tammy) and Brian Mangold; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Mangold; three sisters, Catherine Culbertson, Elizabeth Kownacki and Anna Mae Keefer; and four brothers, Arthur, William, Kenneth and John Heinrich.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 11 am. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be designated to St. Stanislaus R.C. Church, 516 East 13th Street, Erie, PA  16503.
