John J. Dascanio John J. Dascanio was born on October 10, 1923 in Renovo, PA, the son of the late, Pasquale and Antonietta Marino Dascanio. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School and then was employed as a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He owned and operated, with his wife, Marian, Johnny's Restaurant and Bar at Lavery's Corners for 25 years. Previously he served in the US Army in Italy and Germany and received the WWII Victory Medal. He attained the rank of 4th. Grade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Rhoades Dascanio, one sister, Mary Groner, and three brothers: Gabriel, Dominick, and Victor, all veterans. Survivors include a daughter, Annette (V. James) Fiorenzo of Millcreek, one son, John Dascanio (Linda) of Blacksburg, VA and also grandchildren: Sarah and Gabriel Dascanio and Daniel and Jennifer Fiorenzo. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and cutting firewood. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Our Lady of Peace Church on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Hyner, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St. Erie, PA 16501 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1700 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501.
