Obituary of Dana W. Phelps

Dana W. Phelps, age 94, a lifelong resident of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at his home with his family at his bedside.  Beloved husband of Justine and loving father to his children Terrance A. (Patty) Phelps of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Cheryl D. Banda, Kevin S. (Laura) Phelps and Randy B. Phelps all of Erie.    

He was born in Erie on March 23, 1923 a son of the late Willis and Lula Sherwood Phelps of Waterford.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Merrill and Alden Phelps.

Dad worked most of his life for Sterling Milk Company until retirement and part time at PNC Bank until the age of 77.  Dad was a life-long fan of the Cleveland Indians, which was only exceeded by his love of music.  He played the piano and entertained the family during family get-togethers.  He and mother also sang in the church choir.

He is further survived by ten grandchildren, Carol (Brian) Burns, Michelle Hotchkiss, Tara (Scott) Stewart, Traci Albertazzi, Travis Phelps, Dustin Phelps, Ryan Lariccia, Jillian (Josh) Higley, Erin Phelps and Jeremy Phelps.  He is further survived by sixteen great-grandchildren.   

Dad proudly served our country in the United States Army during WW II.   Dad’s greatest legacy to us was his work ethic, sense of humor and positive outlook on life.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Saturday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service there at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
