Jack E. Baker

 

Jack E. Baker, age 88, of McKean Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Erie on March 4, 1929, the son of the late Austin H. and Theresa Kuhn Baker. Jack served in the US Army Reserve. His employment consisted of construction sheet metal work, air conditioning, and heating.  He was a member of Local Union #12.  Jack enjoyed walking, hunting, fishing in his boat, gardening; especially mowing his lawn, upkeep of the family home, fixing and improving broken machines and other household items, woodworking, and watching the weather during the news and talking about it. Jack lived a quiet and simple life and had a big heart. He loved spending time with his entire family and his pet dogs and cats. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Margaret Beach Baker in 2016 and one daughter Judith Ann Baker.  He is survived by his children Doug J. Baker (Karen) of Erie, Ann Marie Pochedly (Jim) of McKean Twp. one sister Jeannette (Baker) Keim (Carl) of Albuquerque, NM, his grandchildren: Carrie and Erik Baker, Heather Jones, Robert Steavens, Heidi Reeves (Joe), and Isaak Schlindwein, great-grandchildren: Justin, Jeremy, and Jayden Baker, DeMarco and Jorge Santos, Ayva Reeves, Eric and Kyra Jones, Jamie Johnson, and James Douglas Steavens, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. and are invited there on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Service.  Interment St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Erie County Library, 160 East Front Street, Erie, PA 16507.
