William D. Lamberton, MD

William D. Lamberton, MD, age 90, of Millcreek Twp. passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Erie on July 6, 1927, the son of the late Frederick W. and Anna T. Crawford Lamberton. Bill was a 1945 graduate of Academy H.S., received his BS degree from Penn State and his MD degree from Hahnemann Medical School in 1953.

He served in the US Army Air Corp in the 509^th Bomb Group VH at the close of WWII. Dr. Lamberton did his medical internship at Hamot Hospital.  He was a charter member and diplomat of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Erie County Medical Society, PA Medical Society, AMA; he served as President of the St. Vincent Medical Staff , was President of the Erie County Medical Society, was a long time delegate to the PA Medical Society, was active in the creation of the St. Vincent Family Medicine Residency Program, and was very active in teaching at St. Vincent.  Dr. Lamberton retired from private practice in 1992 but continued to serve at Pleasant Ridge Manor as Medical Director as he was on the medical staff there starting in the 1950’s.

Dr. Lamberton was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and was also a long- time member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge #362 of the F & A M, the Erie Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine Club where he served on the Zem Zem Pipes and Drum Corp for many years; serving as tenor drummer, bass drummer and Drum Major, was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, a life member of the Erie Maennerchor and Kahkwa Clubs, Millcreek American Legion Post 773, volunteered at St. Paul’s Neighborhood Free Clinic and hosted the Erie County Medical Society’s “Focus on Medicine”

 TV show. He was an avid golfer and rooted for the Penn State Football Team and the Cleveland Indians. He was preceded in death by his first wife Leona Afford Lamberton, one daughter Patricia “Patti” Lamberton, and his son-in-law David Bowes. He is survived by his loving wife Judie Shuhart Lamberton, two sons; Wm. F. Lamberton, MD (Kathleen Erb, MD) of Bluffton, SC, Richard Lamberton (Joan) of Erie, son-in-law Ken McGregor of Palmetto, FL, step-daughters Cheryl Tylkowski (Phil) of Erie, Brenda Bowes of North Palm Beach, FL, step-son Paul Bernhardt of Erie,  grandchildren: William I., Andrew, Clairy, Fred, and Keith Lamberton, step-grandchildren; Jaci Bartol, Nicole Lattanzie, Valerie Tylkowski, Hunter Willis, Rachel, and Charlie Bernhardt, great-grandchildren; Lillian, Alex, and Addison.

 Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until time of Masonic Service at 4:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service. Private interment.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8^th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to the Erie Zem Zem Shrine Club, 2525 West 38^th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
