Obituary of Evelyn Mazzone

Evelyn “Kitty” Yarussi Mazzone, age 93 of Erie, passed away following an extended illness on Thursday April 19, 2018 at Manchester Commons.  She was born in Erie on March 22, 1925 a daughter of the late Michael and Mary DiStefano Yarussi.

Evelyn graduated from Strong Vincent High School and worked at Marx Toys before starting her family and becoming a homemaker.  She always put others first and enjoyed cooking and baking for neighbors, friends and family.  Her homemade gnocchi, pizzelles and pigs in the blanket will be missed by many.  Evelyn loved to shop and always cared for all of gods creatures.  She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Mazzone; two sons in infancy, Dennis and Joseph Mazzone; three brothers, Dewey, Tony and Danny Yarussi and one sister, Annie Gasper. 

She is survived by her two children, Pattie (Randy) McDonald of Girard and Pete (Renee) Mazzone; three grandchildren, Patrick (Sarah) Mazzone, Bryan (fiancée Lynny) Mazzone and Kristina (Chris) Morgan; one great-granddaughter, Lila Morgan and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Friday (Today) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and are invited to a funeral service there on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the local animal shelter of your choice.
