Obituary of William R. Stright
HEADLINE: “Devoted and Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather”
William R. “Russ” Stright, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Saturday May 19, 2018 at UPMC-Hamot Hospital. He was born in Sharon, PA on April 2, 1926, a son of the late John O. & Susan E. Carlisle Stright. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Dixon and two brothers, John and Earl Stright.
Russ proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during WW II. He was employed until his retirement in 1980 by Warner & Smith Motor Freight Inc., after 40 years of service. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Chairman for may years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lawrence Lodge #708. Russ was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing horseshoes, but most of all will be remembered for being a wonderful family man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine R. Reagle Stright; their children, Carol Byler, Linda Stright, Ellen (Thomas) Plowmen, Donna Stright and William (Carolyn) Stright; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
