Obituary of David William Shaffer

David William Shaffer, age 69, of McKean, passed away at his home on Saturday May 19, 2018.  He was born in Erie on July 25, 1948 a son of the late Harry and Patricia Reed Shaffer.

 

Dave graduated from Academy High School in 1969.  He proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor as a member of the 1st. Recon Battalion, “C” Company, 2nd Platoon, 1st Marine Division from 1967-69.  Upon returning from the war he worked at Zurn Industries for many years.  David enjoyed bowling, NASCAR and the New York Jets.  He was a longtime member of the St. Francis Ushers Club. 

 

He is survived by his sister, Robin Beeman of Arizona, sister, Alison Loeffler of Erie, daughter Jennifer (Dan) Miano of Erie, two sons, Brian (Nicole) Shaffer of Arizona and Kevin (Carrie) Shaffer of Albion, and he was Grandpa Dave to nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

 

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and are invited to the graveside service will full military honors on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
