Obituary of James William Granger
HEADLINE: Devoted and Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
James William Granger “Jim”, passed away on Friday May 18, 2018 at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge after an extended battle with heart disease. He was 82 years old. He was born in Erie on December 31, 1935, the son of the late George and Doris Hunt Granger.
Jim graduated from Cathedral Prep, class of 1954. He continued his education at Edinboro University, graduating with a BS in Education, and from Gannon University with a Masters in Education. He was a Social Studies teacher in the Erie School District for thirty years, with the majority of his teaching done at East High School.
Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Bartow Granger; three sons and their wives, David (Julie) of Milwaukee, WI, Mark (Jan) of Monrovia, MD and Matthew (Stacie) of Fairview; five grandchildren, Gianna and Benjamin, Milwaukee, Timothy and Molly, Monrovia and Katherine Fairview and one sister Jo Ann (Thomas) Graham, Moore, OK. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary’s for their kind and compassionate care of Jim.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday morning in the Chapel at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge 4855 West Ridge Rd Erie, PA 16506, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
