Obituary of Earl A. Culbertson
Earl A. Culbertson, age 98, of Sarah Reed Senior Living Center, passed away there on Saturday June 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Franklin Center, PA on May 10, 1920 a son of the late, George H. and Norma Kline Culbertson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years Marilyn L. Culbertson; one sister, Annice Hanks and one great-grandson, Jonathon Piatkowski.
Earl retired from GE after 37 years of service working as a crane operator. He was a member of the Masonic Lake Erie Lodge No. 347 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine Club and the Camel Hearders. All who knew Earl can appreciate and reflect on the term “Earl’s Pearls of Wisdom” for which he was known, with “Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither was Ashtabula” being one of his favorites.
He is survived by three children, Larry A. (Alicia) Culbertson of Millcreek Twp., Neil R. (Patti) Culbertson of Girard and Mary Ellen (Wally) Long of McKean Twp.; six grandchildren, Sharon (Jerry) Anderson of Millcreek Twp., Debbie (Rob) Sawyer of Wenatchee, Washington, Karen (Doug) Bargar of Millcreek Twp., Kathleen (Chad) Kranz of Erie, Timothy D. (Kim) Long of McKean and Bethany (Jerrod) Piatkowski and eleven great-grandchildren, Austin, Collin and Julia Anderson of Erie, Emily & Megan Sawyer of Wenatchee, Washington, Jill and Anna Kranz, Dylan Piatkowski, David and Andrew Long and Noah Schulze all of Erie.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sarah Reed Living Center for the wonderful care that was given to Earl.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Masonic service being held at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
