Obituary of Joseph Michael Burton

Joseph Michael Burton, age 70 of Erie, passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at UPMC-Hamot Hospital, following a brief illness.  He was born in Erie on April 14, 1948 a son of the late Francis and Mary Meagher Burton.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Catherine Burton on April 28, 2018; one brother Francis Burton and one sister Joan Schultz.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United State Army during the Vietnam War.  Upon returning from war he worked for a short time as a mechanic before joining the National Guard as a full-time technician, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class.    

He is survived by two children, Erik (Sandra) Burton of Erie and Danielle Burton of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, Haleigh Huff and Chloe and Ethan Burton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.  Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
