Marilyn “Honey” V. Morton Whiteman
MARILYN V. MORTON WHITEMAN (Honey), age 86, who resided at Manchester Commons, Erie, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 after a brief illness at UPMC- Hamot surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Erie, PA on May 8, 1932 to the late Virginia and Herbert Morton.
Marilyn lived in Erie her entire life. She worked as a Legal Assistant for many years and an Administrative Assistant at the local FBI Office for 25 years.
She was a long time member of Cascade United Methodist Church and its Choir and, most recently, an organist and soloist at the Church of Christian Science.
Marilyn was a classically trained Operatic soloist and performed in many local operas with the Erie Concert Singers for many years. Her passion was her love of music, which she passed down to all her children and grandchildren; reading and shopping at QVC. But, above and foremost, was spending time with her family. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Wendy Leonardos (John), Erie, PA; her two sons Jeffrey Whiteman, Phoenix, Arizona, and James Morrison (Marilyn), Richmond, Virginia; one sister Barbara Alexander, Erie, PA., and one brother James Morton, Anaheim, California.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Jennifer Smerker (Larry), Mark Stevens (Stephanie) Abby McDonnell (Jeremy), David Whiteman, Cindy Whiteman, Alexander Whiteman, Megan Goodwin (Corey), Brian Morrison (Jennifer), Brett Morrison (Rutt). She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Ava, Jack, John, Rose, Jacob, Caroline, Andrew, Evelyn, Miriam, Marissa, Kinder and Wyatt.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the funeral Home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn’s personal request was for donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508 or to the American Heart Association, Erie Division, 4682 Douglas Circle, NW, Canton, OH 44718.
