John Franklin Fry
John Franklin Fry, age 79, passed away peacefully at his Millcreek Twp. residence on Friday, July 13, 2018. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois on August 10, 1938, the third child of the late George and Stella Fry. He was a veteran of the United States Army and completed basic training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He was stationed in Washington, D.C. to perform physicals at the Pentagon, and there he married the love of his life, Kathleen Brydon. After his discharge from the Army, John graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in Economics. In 1974, John and his family moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. John worked for many years at A.O. Smith and Smith Meters, later FMC Technologies where he retired. He was an avid fisherman and always had a story to tell. John didn’t know a stranger and his daughters often wondered how he knew everybody was named “Chief.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Kathie, his daughters; Joanne (Tom) Logston and Kendra (Jeff) Flatley and his grandchildren Meghan and Jack Flatley. He was preceded in death by an infant son named Bradford, his parents, a sister Elaine, and a brother Joe.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 3 p.m. until time of Funeral Service there at 7:00 p.m. Private interment.
