Obituary of Edward John Truchanowicz, Sr.
Edward John Truchanowicz, Sr., age 72, of Millcreek, passed away at the Erie VAMC on Friday, August 17, 2018. He was born in Erie on February 21, 1946, son of the late John and Elma Truchanowicz.
Ed was a driver for Birkmire Trucking and Lake Erie Trucking until his retirement. He was a member of the PT Cruiser Club, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed his birds and his dog, Milo. Ed was a 1964 graduate of East High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Claude V. Ricketts during the Vietnam War.
Ed is survived by his wife, Bonnie Truchanowicz; two sons, Edward J. Truchanowicz, Jr. and Thomas M. Truchanowicz (Debra); three stepchildren, April LaRiccia, Edward Carter, and Nicoli Nelson (Teddie); two sisters, Mary Schnell (Ted) and Sandy Vercillo (Ernie); four grandchildren, Heather Knox (Ian), Alyssa, Heidi and Caitlin Truchanowicz; former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Truchanowicz; step-grandchildren, Jordan, Shane, and Angel LaRiccia, Ryan, Erin, Brett, and Kyle Carter, and Natalie Gigli; step-great-grandson, Owen Weary; and nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Truchanowicz.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Monday from 5 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Tuesday at 10 am conducted by Msgr. Daniel Magraw. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with military honors rendered by the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571.
