Obituary of Robert L. Gingrich
Robert L. Gingrich, age 95, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Walnut Creek Health Care & Rehab. Center. He was born on July 15, 1923, in Pottsville, PA, the son of the late Lewis and Ethel Laws Gingrich.
He was a 1942 graduate of Academy High School.
He had previously worked at Times Square Motors, International Correspondence Schools, the Boston Store, and worked until his retirement at the Erie Office of American General Insurance Co.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, a sixty -year member of the Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge No. 362 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Erie, was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory Choir, the Erie Philharmonic Chorus, Jamestown’s Choral Society, and enjoyed a few summers singing with the Regional Choir at Chautauqua, NY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Vivian, one uncle, Harold Laws, and a step-granddaughter, Lindsay R. Moore.
Robert is survived by one son Bruce R. Gingrich and his wife Cecily, one daughter Barbara E. Moore and her husband Carl, and a step- grandson, Timothy C. Moore all of Millcreek, and a good friend Virginia Boucher.
A special thank you is expressed by the family to Walnut Creek Health Center and to Great Lakes Hospice.
A private burial will take place under the direction of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
