Obituary of Joseph Anthony Wilwohl, Sr.
Joseph Anthony Wilwohl Sr., age 76 of Erie, passed away peacefully and quietly at home after a short illness surrounded by his family, on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born in Erie on December 17, 1941, a son of the late Edward J. and Katherine M. Donahue Wilwohl. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward “Bud” Wilwohl and James “Jay” Wilwohl.
Joe was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral Prep and retired after 37 years of service from the Erie Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, remodeling projects, trips to the casino, but most of all Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth A. Oakes Wilwohl; two daughters, Michelle Wilwohl (Blakely) and Mary Peterson and son-in-law Tim Peterson; one son Joseph A. Wilwohl Jr. and daughter-in-law, Shari Glennon; eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Tori and Adam Blakely, Libby and Timmy Peterson and Owen, Ryan and Ethan Wilwohl; four great-grandchildren, Jayden Tatarevic, Charlotte Charcalla and Timmy and Penelope Peterson. Joe is further survived by four sisters, Sister Dorothy Wilwohl, Sister Cathy Wilwohl, Fran Page and Jean Dunkle and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
